Cowboy Calvin Coolidge

During the summer of 1927 President Calvin Coolidge retreated to South Dakota for privacy and the clean, country air. While he was there he managed to bring a lot of publicity to the remote state and inadvertently promoted tourism for South Dakota. To thank the president the state presented him with a horse and a completely ridiculous cowboy outfit that Coolidge loved and wore religiously that summer any chance he got. The result is one of the silliest photos of a sitting president ever:
